The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced additional late season hunts due to the discovery of CWD in a wild deer in Houston County.  Hunters will be required to bring in all carcasses to deer check stations for testing of the disease.  The hunt includes areas around where the wild deer was caught this year as well as around a farmed cervid facility only nine miles away in Winona County that had deer test positive in 2017.

Although it has not been officially reported to the OIE yet, preliminary reports indicate that ASF has been confirmed in two wild boars near the southern village of Étalle, in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium.

The United States and China, despite rising tariffs, trade heavily with each other. A developed trade partner like China reporting ASF demonstrates the real risk of foreign animal disease incursion to the United States.

Another outbreak of ASF occurred August 19th in Haizhou District of the city of Lianyungang, in the Jiangsu Province. This marks the third reported outbreak of ASF in China.

There is now a second case of African swine fever (ASF) in China. It was found in a slaughterhouse where 30 pigs died of ASF. The slaughterhouse is located in the city of Zhengzhou in the Henan province.

Following nearly two weeks of containment efforts, disinfection, and active surveillance with no new cases, Chinese officials identified a second case of ASF on Thursday.

The first case of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been reported in China. First identified on August 1st, the outbreak was located in the northeast, in the city Shenyang.
