Dr. Alkhamis is a veterinary epidemiologist, an Assistant Professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the Faculty of Public Health at Kuwait University. His current activities involve development and teaching of courses in the area of epidemiology and statistics for the Faculty of Public Health. His current research activities are focused on the following areas: evolutionary epidemiology of infectious diseases using Bayesian phylodynamic methods, spatial epidemiology and disease mapping methods, and applications of novel quantitative methods in surveillance of infectious diseases.

The Dr. Will Hueston Speaker Series features key speakers in the areas of animal health and food safety. The Speaker Series was named to honor the legacy of Dr. Hueston, University of Minnesota Professor Emeritus and the first director of CAHFS, and an advocate and champion of inter-disciplinary collaboration in the areas of public health, epidemiology, capacity building, and policy.
