Summary

Udi Elnekave is a postdoctoral fellow in the Veterinary Population Medicine department and Center for Animal Health and Food Safety. His research focuses on zoonotic enteric pathogens epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance using molecular tools, such as whole genome sequencing, and evolutionary models. 

Dr. Elnekave's main passions are public health and food safety. In hisresearch, he wants to understand how much resistance to antibiotics exists in production animals, what are the genetic mechanisms that lead to this resistance and what is the risk for spread to humans.

Dr. Elnekave's work at the U of M is supported by the United States - Israel Binational Agricultural Research and Development Fund, Vaadia-BARD Postdoctoral Fellowship.
