Farm to Table Study Program: Uruguay
Uruguay October 25-31, 2009 Presented by: About the ProgramParticipants will explore the food system from farm-to-table in Uruguay while considering aspects of animal welfare and health, food safety, and public health. Facilitated discussions with key government and private sector leaders and site visits along the food supply chain are designed to integrate knowledge and skills in food safety, animal health and public health. Key Objectives- Develop awareness, understanding and familiarity of the food system in Uruguay and appreciate the global integration of public-private practice within food systems.

Who Should Attend- Food and animal health industry professionals
- Government regulators and policymakers
- Students in veterinary medicine and other academic graduate health certificate and degree programs
Program Activities and Highlights Tentative activities in Uruguay include visiting a dairy processor and beef slaughter plant; touring a local cattle farm; visiting government and private sector animal and public health organizations; and meeting with faculty and students from the Universidad de la Republica veterinary school, Uruguay. Registration Deadline Registration is on a first come first serve basis and is limited to 20 participants. Registration FeesThe registration fee is $800 USD. Registration includes:- Ground transportation to site visits during the week.
- Two nights hotel accommodation (including breakfast; single occupancy) while doing site visits in the cities of Punte del Este and Colonia.
- Dinner and tango show on the second to last night of the program.
- Lunch on the last day of the program.
- Course materials and instruction
Participants are responsible for:- Travel to/from Uruguay
- Participants will be expected to make arrangements and pay for their own travel to and from Uruguay. The program will be commencing and ending in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay.
- Ground transportation from the airport to the hotel in Montevideo.
- Hotel accommodations
- The cost of hotel accommodations in Montevideo is not included in the registration fee.
- Participants have the option of booking their hotel rooms in Montevideo directly through the Farm to Table Program or they also have the option of arranging their own accommodation in Montevideo should they wish to do so.
- There will be an additional charge for single occupancy.
- Lunches, dinners and incidentals are not included in the registration fee. Please note that breakfast is included in the cost the hotel rooms.
- Health insurance (proof of insurance required).
